When you write about Grenadill, which is called “Mpingo” in his origin, it is easy to wax lyrical about it, and it is hard to decide where to begin.
Grenadill is obstinate, has an engaging manner, is callous, gorgeous and it requires some explanations.
Our Grenadill is reaped in northern provinces of Mozambique. The biggest part is used to build instruments like clarinets or oboes.
Grenadill is precious wood. With the harvest in Mozambique, nobody is prosecuting depletion; far from it. With the acquisition of our products, you support preservation and care of this unique type of tree. Using easy methods, it is possible for us to grow much more than we harvest. The government decides on how much wood in which specific areas can be lumbered. The experts in Mozambique take an assortment of trees by individual and strict criteria’s.
Although Grenadill is quite insensitive to water we still recommend not putting it in a dishwasher. For using the product with an espresso machine for example, this feature is a great advantage.
Grenadill has an engaging manner. While growing, it aspirates tiny stones in its inside. Because of that fact, it can be possible that you find little holes or irregularities, which are not a sign of a fault but for its character.
The colour of Grenadill is dark brown with a light grain, which varies in its intensity. At daylight you can see the wood lightning from its inside. Gorgeous.
Grenadill is obstinate. It happens that a Grenadill tree starts to build a knob, but stops within a short time and chooses a different spot (or not…) This incredible characteristic leads to small black points, that have the wonderful name “sleeping eye”. If you own a Grenadill product with such a sleeping eye you can be sure that it is something really special…
